AeA is delighted to bring you California Cybercities 2006: An Overview of California's Largest High-Technology Metropolitan Areas. This 51 page report provides you with the latest data on high-tech employment, wages, establishments, payroll, and leading industry sectors for the state's top 17 metropolitan areas.

Highlights of What's Inside...

California's high-tech employment totaled 904,900 in 2004, down by 10,600, or by one percent.

Job losses in California's tech industry slowed in 2004, compared to the 67,800 jobs lost in 2003 and the 134,400 lost in 2002.

California’s 326,000 high-tech manufacturing employees represent 21 percent of the state's 1.5 million manufacturing workers.

California’s leading technology centers are in San Jose/Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, and San Francisco-Oakland. These three metro areas comprise nearly 60 percent of California’s total high-tech employment.

Southern California’s high-tech industry employed 418,000 technology workers, compared to 439,000 in Northern California.

California's fastest growing cybercity was Sacramento, adding 1,300 jobs in 2004.

Sacramento was followed by Riverside - San Bernardino, Fresno, and Santa Barbara.

San Jose/Silicon Valley had the highest annual average tech wage, followed by Santa Cruz, San Francisco - Oakland, and San Diego.

Los Angeles had the most high-tech establishments with 7,800.

Orange County ranked in the top five by employment in all 16 tech sectors.
